I first visited Ahotokurom in September 2011 with my husband, Jonny. He was working with a doctor at Ankaful Hospital, as part of his medical degree. I decided to go with him to visit the village and work in a local school.

We stayed in Ahotokurom for 6 weeks, and didn’t want to leave as our trip came to an end! Everyone was so welcoming, and really made us feel at home. We returned to Ahotokurom in April 2013, and were so excited to hear the amazing plans and ideas for the future.

It’s a truly unique place, and I hope to be back there very soon!
